Austin came to us from the New Beginnings for Animals rescue in Orange County; they pulled him from an Orange County shelter, and prepared to adopt him into a new home. He needed some dentistry, so they did the usual pre-anesthesia work-up, and discovered he had heart disease. He came to us because that really limits his adoptability. Our Internist diagnosed his heart problem as HCM, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He’s begun a regime of medications to give him the best quality of life for as long as possible. He’s a real sweetie! |
